When little Danny goes to bed, his cozy slumber is interrupted by growling lions, punching kangaroos, and underwear-eating bears. A Bump in the Night by Matt Hazel takes us on Danny’s adventure as he discovers the root of all that goes bump. Sue Harvie takes students on a musical journey exploring vocabulary from the book through the song and accompaniment of Things that go Bump in the Night. Inspired by Danny’s adventure, students will become orchestrators and performers as they play, sing and create. Musical concepts and skills are infused throughout the process, from rhythm and note reading to creating a Rondo of their own creation.
Included in the package is the book, A Bump in the Night by Matt Hazel; Lesson Plan by Sue Harvie, Bump in the Night (featuring the song, orchestration and teaching process); Teaching Slides to accompany Bump in the Night (linked to the lesson plan, complete with the score, orchestration visuals, and vocabulary prompts for composition).
