About the Author

Deborah Ziolkoski is an elementary music specialist with the Surrey School District in British Columbia. She has a bachelor of education with a music major, and her Masters Orff level from the University of Memphis. Deborah currently works with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra designing the Teacher-Guided Activities for the VSO’s Elementary School Concerts.

In 2005, her Orff Club performed the Persian March and Aquarium (as written in Fun with Composers Volume I) with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra for over 100,000 students and teachers at the Orpheum Theatre. In 2006, Deborah published volume I of the Fun with Composers’ Teacher Guides and Just for Kids Guides. She has recently published Volume II (Pre K-Gr. 3) and is currently working on Volume II (Gr. 3-7). This series is being integrated into elementary music and piano curriculums internationally. Deborah has over 18 years’ experience as a music specialist and is an active international clinician.

Deborah lives in White Rock, BC with her husband Ed and their three wonderful daughters Annika, Lauren and Charli.  As a parent Deborah understands the desire to seek and provide your child with positive, wholesome learning experiences.  She hopes that the Fun with Composers curriculum will bring lots of laughter and joy into your home and/or classroom!
